A little heat and humidity is okay for a day at the beach but not so much for inside our homes.  Think damp, humid bathrooms, basements and home spas and the condensation that goes along with it.  Since opening a window just doesn’t cut it, may we suggest the new Leviton Humidity Sensor and Fan Control.  This handy sensor automatically detects excess humidity in a room and activates the ventilation fan to lessen condensation which helps to reduce the dreaded mold and mildew.

Imagine how great it would be for the bathroom ventilation fan to automatically switch on as soon as excess humidity is detected during a shower.  The air would become clearer, the dampness and “mirror sweat” significantly reduced and the environment would be so much more comfortable. And, since the sensor is automatic, it will keep the fan running until humidity levels drop to the level you set.  No running back to check on the fan and no more forgetting about the fan and leaving it running for hours on end. As for the damp, occasionally musty basement, the Air Cycle mode is ideal!  The Humidity Sensor and Fan Control can be set to turn on a ventilation fan for a set period of time and repeat the cycle hourly: for example, 20 minutes ON and 40 minutes OFF every hour. How smart is that?!

Oh, did we forget to mention that it is compatible with incandescent, LED, CFL and fluorescent lighting loads?  A neutral wire is required for operation and, of course, it must be used with a properly sized and rated ventilation fan.  You can choose from white, ivory or light almond, and if those colors don’t suit your needs color change kits are available in black and brown.
