Giving Back to Those Who've Given So Much

Wounded Warriors - Leviton Blog

Supporting Wounded Warriors is a passion for Dan Munson, Director of Government Accounts for Leviton Network Solutions. During the past two years he has been the point person as Leviton partnered with Berg Electric, a Premier Network Installer in San Diego, CA to provide a BBQ dinner for the Wounded Warrior Unit at Balboa hospital in San Diego, CA.

In San Antonio, TX, Leviton partnered with both Data Optics, a very large distributor, and KST Electric, a PNI, providing BBQ dinners for the Marine Corp Wounded Warrior Unit at the San Antonio Medical Center.

To get ready for the annual BBQ's Dan and our partners cut, trimmed, marinated, seasoned, and rubbed about 500 pounds of meat before it was placed on a 250 degree pecan wood fire. After the cooking process was complete, Dan worked with Roger Escobar, Western Region Government Business Develop Manager for Leviton, and brought the BBQ to the Liberty Center at the Wounded Warrior Unit at Balboa hospital. There, they served the delicious dishes to the Wounded Warriors recovering from many serious injuries.

During these events Leviton and Berg Electric have served this BBQ specialty to more than 550 Wounded Warriors. These brave Americans have injuries ranging from relatively minor cases all the way to triple amputations. Some suffer from less visible injuries like Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

"The feedback received from the staff at the Liberty Center at Balboa is always very positive, but quite honestly it doesn't seem like we're doing enough for the Warriors who have given so much for our country, we are humbled by their great sacrifices to our country." Said Mr. Munson.

In addition, many of the generous management people from Berg Electric expressed how much these events mean to them personally and to their company. They also carry through and participate to a great extent by giving back to Warriors in their community.

In San Antonio, teams from Leviton, Data Optics, and KST Electric have provided about 150 meals during the past 2 years to the Wounded Warriors. Harry Ramirez, a principal at Data Optics has provided his facility, smokers, coolers, and manpower in support of this event. Bill Garwood, a Product Manager at KST, also provided a smoker and supplies for this event.
