Modular Plug Terminated Links and the Leviton and Berk-Tek System Warranty

Modular Plug Terminated Links and the Leviton and Berk-Tek System Warranty

At the end of the day, we all want the most efficient and cost-effective calbing options possible – even if it means being untraditional. This is the story of Modular Plug Terminated Links or MPTLs. With an MPTL, there is just one patch cord in the telecommunications room, and the permanent link is terminated at the other end with a plug, so it can be inserted directly into the device – eliminating the equipment cord.

MPTLs make sense because as more devices – such as security cameras, Wi-Fi access points and IP clocks – are becoming IP enabled and connecting to the copper horizontal cabling infrastructure, it’s often impractical or unsafe to connect these types of devices to a typical panel.

The benefits of using an MPTL include the cost-effective ability to adhere to the code requirement of only placing plenum-rated products in air-handling spaces, and better security and aesthetics by avoiding exposed patch cords that can be accidently or intentionally disconnected.  Recently MPTL certication was approved per TIA 568.2-D Standard.

Now, MPTLs are eligible for a Berk-Tek Leviton Technologies System Warranty. This warranty is your assurance that your certified structured cabling system performance will exceed all relevant cabling system standards. Click here to learn more »
