‘Tis the Season...for Holiday Lighting Displays

Holiday Lighting Displays

Is it just us, or does Christmas come earlier and earlier each year? It seems we were just hunting for Halloween decorations and before the day even arrived shelves were being stocked with Christmas decorations. We couldn’t believe it! We’re just as into the holiday spirit as anyone, but we do believe in enjoying Halloween and Thanksgiving before we embrace the jolly winter spirit and hang up our holiday lights.

With that being said, there’s no time like the present to begin assembling all the tools and power strips you’ll need to get your outdoor holiday decorations up and running. There’s nothing worse than being the last one to run to the store in hopes of finding that last extension cord, timer, or ladder for your decorations. As the holiday season inches closer, we’d recommend you start early and get your preparations out of the way. That way, when the holidays actually do roll around, your house will be beautiful and decorated, inside and out, with no stress!

One of the things we find people often forget when it comes to decorating outdoors is the need for a power source to do so. Many of us, especially those who live in older homes, don’t have outdoor power sources. This means that without a bit of reworking, we’re required to plug a giant extension cord into an indoor outlet, then snake that cord out an open window, or open dog door, to connect it with our outdoor decorations and lighting. Sounds like a pain, right? Well, it doesn’t have to be that way. It’s easy to add outdoor power receptacles to your home, and there’s no better time than now to do so.

Outdoor power receptacles function just like indoor ones, except that they’re weatherproofed and protected against the elements. Having outdoor power receptacles to plug into makes the rest of your decorating a cinch. Whether you’re partial to a single string of white lights, or you prefer to go all out in the decorating department, outdoor power receptacles make holiday decorating as easy as “Ho, ho, ho!”
